DEPARTMENT OF CLINICAL HEMATOLOGY


The Superspeciality Department of Clinical Haematology has state of the art of providing tertiary care services for patients with haematological disorders both benign and malignant besides providing laboratory Haematology investigative and therapeutic backup, not only for in patient of SKIMS but to out patients as well.

It is a referral centre for management of Hematological malignancies (Leukemia, Lymphomas, Myeloma) and other Hematological disorders like ITP, MDS, Aplastic anemias, Nutritional anemias etc.

It runs a referral Haematology OPD on daily basis (Monday to Saturday) in the State Cancer Institute (SCI) and a day care facility for Haemophilic patients and other Haematological disorders for instituting Chemotherapy protocols & supportive care.

The Department started doing Stem Cell / Bone Marrow Transplant since 2014 and is continuing with great success.

Haemogram, Haemolytic work up, nutritional anaemia assay, routine coagulation and special coagulation and thrombophillic work up besides factor assays is routinely being done. The Department is the only centre in the State which provides the facility of Flowcytometry (Immunophenotyping).

The Department is actively involved in post-graduate, under graduate, MSc, BSc & Diploma (MLT) teaching and training of students. BSc and MSc (MLT) courses are run in the Department

The Department got MCI approval for starting of DM course in Hematology from the year 2020.
