MMINSR, SKIMS Hosts 11th Annual College Day & Three-Day Seminar on Bridging Research and Practice in Nursing

Srinagar | 13th July 2025:
Mader-e-Meharban Institute of Nursing Sciences & Research (MMINSR), SKIMS, celebrated its 11th College Annual Day with great enthusiasm and academic depth. The celebration was preceded by a three-day seminar from 8th to 10th July 2025 on the theme:
“Bridging the Research-Practice Gap: Mastering Scientific Writing Skills for Nursing Excellence.”

The event brought together nursing students, young scholars, and the esteemed SKIMS faculty to engage with a theme that is central to modern nursing—bridging clinical practice with scientific communication for better healthcare outcomes.

Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah (IAS), Secretary, Health & Medical Education, J&K, graced the occasion as Chief Guest, while Prof. Mohammad Ashraf Ganie, Director SKIMS & Ex-Officio Secretary to Government, was the Guest of Honour.

In his address, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed expressed gratitude to the SKIMS administration for the invitation and stated, “I embraced the occasion despite busy schedules, acknowledging the significance of this event. Nursing staff is the backbone of any health system, and their efforts need to be recognised and appreciated. We, including the SKIMS administration, are making all efforts to address your issues and concerns. A core value system must be in place while dealing with patients—one that is inclusive of empathy and truly patient-centric.”

Director SKIMS / EOSG Prof.  M. Ashraf Ganie, in his remarks, congratulated the college for this initiative and emphasized the importance of research and continuous skill development in nursing to match the evolving standards of healthcare.

Also present on the occasion were Prof. G. M. Gulzar, Dean Medical Faculty SKIMS,
Prof. Mohd Maqbool Wani, Principal, MMINSR,Mr. Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Additional Director, SKIMS, Prof. Farooq A. Jan, Medical Superintendent, SKIMS.
These senior officials expressed their appreciation for the academic leadership at MMINSR and encouraged nursing students to pursue excellence through research, ethical practice, and compassionate care.

The theme of the seminar highlighted the pressing need to empower nurses with scientific writing skills that allow them to translate their clinical expertise and research findings into structured scholarly outputs. Despite possessing vast practical knowledge, many nursing professionals face challenges in academic expression—this event aimed to bridge that critical gap.

Over three days, the seminar provided a platform for nursing scholars to present their research, participate in interactive sessions, and build competencies in scientific writing and research methodology. The Annual Day culminated with cultural performances, awards, and felicitation of outstanding students and faculty.
